Whilst at University I was always drawn towards the fusion of fine art and textiles practice, so much so that I transferred from a Fine Art degree in London to the renown Embroidery degree in Manchester where I felt I could get the best of both worlds.
I was never really concerned with the traditional and accurate elements of traditional embroidery but instead loved the freedom of using both hand and machine embroidery in a more arty way. I really enjoyed being able to adopt drawing, collage and stitch either individually or simultaneously to create artworks.
Since graduating in 2007 I embarked upon a community arts career and it was only in 2013 having missed my own creativity that I decided to dedicate time to creating my own artwork again.
I currently have two different styles; hand stitched linear drawings and paper-stitched artworks and I enjoyed creating pieces to sell at art markets and also creating commissions.
